Braden Airpark in Easton, PA. (AGES 13 -18) Summer 2010


Recently announced the forming of a day camp for young people interested in aviation. The five-day (Monday - Friday) one week camp will be open to young people age 13 to 18 and is located at Braden Airpark, starting in July of 2010. Call us today for dates and details! Campers will learn and experience the following: (schedule below)

    - Aviation and aeronautical recaps
    - what makes an airplane fly
    - airplane flight controls
    - instruments
    - preflight inspection
    - radio communications
    - weather
    - navigation using aeronautical charts
    - flight in a full motion flight simulator!
    - actual flight time, logged in your own logbook
    - study actual written FAA test questions
    * any camper may choose not to fly
    - Career information discussed and provided for all aspects of the Aviation & Aerospace Industry including; (but not limited to) piloting aircraft, Certified Flight Instructors, Maintenance, ATC (tower) & weather / meterology.

For those selecting the flight option session the student will actually fly an airplane on a cross country flight with a certified Flight Instructor and time flown will be logged in your own logbook.

Field trips will consist of visits to aircraft maintenance facilities, weather stations, and corporate flight departments. There will be a tour of the Lehigh Valley International airport including the fire and rescue departments, and the airport Control tower.

Schedule - July 2010 *

Day 1:

9:00 am -10:00 am	Introduction & Tour 

- Students will be presented with a folder of information, a paper logbook, information about Aero Camp, and a free 6 month subscription to AOPA flight training magazine. (Coupon)
10:00 am -11:00 am  	Lesson:		Safety Practices & Procedures
11:00 am - 12:30 pm 	Lesson:		Aircraft flight controls & fundamentals of flight.
12:30 pm - 1:30 pm 	Lunch   	**
1:30 pm - 3:00pm 	Lesson:		Preflight Inspection 
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm 	Lesson:		Engine startup, taxi, run up and radio use.

Day 2:

9:00 am - 9:30 am	Trip: 		Travel to Lehigh Valley Airport
10:00 am - 12:00 pm 	Simulator: 	Fly Red Bird Simulator at Lehigh/Carbon Community College
12:30 pm - 1:30 pm 	Lunch		** 
1:30 pm - 2:30 pm 	Tour: 		Tour of Control Tower
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm	Trip:	 	Return to Braden Airport

Day 3:

9:00 am - 10:00 am	Tour: 		Maintenance facility 
10:00 am - 11:00 am	Trip: 		Weather Trends International. Learn about weather. 
11:00 am - 12:30 pm	Tour: 		Lehigh Valley International Airport by airport management
12:30 pm - 1:30 pm	Lunch		** 
2:00 pm - 4:00 pm	Lesson:		Charts & Flight Planning

Day 4:

9:00 am - 10:30 am	Lesson:		Weather briefing & preflight of aircraft
10:30 am - 2:00 pm	Trip:		Flight to two airports.  
-  There will be three students to each aircraft, each student will receive approximately 45 minutes 
of flight time. Non flying students will ride in back seats. 
Approx 12:00 pm 	Lunch:		There will be a break for lunch; * Each student brings their own. 
2:30 pm - 4:00 pm	Debriefing Sessions for Days 1 - 4

Day 5:

9:00 am - 4:00 pm	Make up flights due to weather - FAA regulations questions/answers

Camper's Checklist:
    - Lunch, snacks (water will be provided)
    - sun screen
    - proper clothing (neat attire)- *sneakers a must for those who will fly
    - hat, sun screen, sunglasses
    - cameras are welcome
    - *Note: cell phones must be turned off during classes and flights
